Ordinary Days tells the story of four New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for fulfillment, happiness, love and taxis. Through a score of vibrant and memorable songs, their experiences ring startlingly, universally true to life. Ordinary Days is an original musical for anyone who’s ever struggled to appreciate the simple things in a complex place. With equal doses of humor and poignancy, it celebrates how the millions of individual stories combine in unexpected ways to make The Big Apple a truly unique and extraordinary home.
Deb (Christine Pfenninger) is an aggressively Type-A grad student, starting her life over, with every second of every day for the next five years meticulously scheduled. Her “Big Picture” starts to shift when she meets Warren (Andrew Russo), a street artist without any plans. But what he lacks in planning he more than makes up for with New York-sized hopes and dreams.
Around a street corner, Claire (Katie Heurung) and Jason (Zach Gibson) deal with the stresses and pressure of moving in together. Jason can’t help but feel that, even though they are physically closer than ever, his girlfriend has never been further away. Meanwhile, Claire struggles to find space for her boyfriend, especially when faced with the things she’ll have to let go of to make room for him.
